{"id":478,"date":"2016-01-06T00:01:55","date_gmt":"2016-01-06T04:01:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blockschwenkcollective.com\/cool_by_osmosis\/?p=478"},"modified":"2016-01-06T00:25:56","modified_gmt":"2016-01-06T04:25:56","slug":"sonnet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blockschwenkcollective.com\/cool_by_osmosis\/2016\/01\/06\/sonnet\/","title":{"rendered":"Sonnet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_482\" style=\"width: 235px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-482\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-482\" src=\"https:\/\/blockschwenkcollective.com\/cool_by_osmosis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Sonnet-April-2015-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"?\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blockschwenkcollective.com\/cool_by_osmosis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Sonnet-April-2015-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blockschwenkcollective.com\/cool_by_osmosis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Sonnet-April-2015-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-482\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">?<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Sonnet is the youngest of the lot, just over a year and a half old.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She came to us in an unusual way. \u00a0Deb and I were at 5 cats, which we considered a good number. \u00a0Then an acquaintance who does animal rescue work in the Gulf Coast told us of a litter of 4 mostly-black kittens which were going to be destroyed for lack of homes, and if I didn&#8217;t save them nobody would. \u00a0So I took it upon myself to find them homes, offering my colleagues at Berklee a $500 donation to the department scholarship fund for each kitten adopted, plus help with their initial medical expenses. \u00a0Ultimately, we saved all four, plus two &#8220;bonus&#8221; kittens! \u00a0 But finding homes was incredibly hard and initially we were having no success, so I took a kitten in the hope of giving the &#8220;kitten drive&#8221; some momentum.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-469 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blockschwenkcollective.com\/cool_by_osmosis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/002-300x251.jpg\" alt=\"002\" width=\"300\" height=\"251\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blockschwenkcollective.com\/cool_by_osmosis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/002-300x251.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blockschwenkcollective.com\/cool_by_osmosis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/002-768x642.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blockschwenkcollective.com\/cool_by_osmosis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/002.jpg 1001w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Then when the kittens were delivered, they messed up which one was which, confusing Sonnet with her brother, also a tuxedo who had a white chin rather than a black one. \u00a0Here&#8217;s an early photo of Sonnet, as we were figuring out that we had the wrong kitten.<\/p>\n<p>However, it worked out for the best! Our friend was supposed to take Sonnet and a different brother (who also ended up with us in a case of mistaken identity), but Sonnet HATED her brother. \u00a0So to avoid that match made in Hell, we kept Sonnet while she kept the kitten we were supposed to get, plus got her brother.<br \/>\n<!--more-->Sonnet did an amazingly good job integrating into &#8220;the tribe,&#8221; She spent two days separated, then it took another two days and she was fully accepted by the others. \u00a0That&#8217;s incredibly good for cats!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_471\" style=\"width: 540px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-471\" class=\"size-large wp-image-471\" src=\"https:\/\/blockschwenkcollective.com\/cool_by_osmosis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/tetrarchy-1024x541.jpg\" alt=\"Sonnet is second from left. The &#8220;Triumvirate&#8221; has become a Tetrarchy!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sonnet is very sweet-natured and is everything one could want in a cat! \u00a0She liked to be held, belly rubs, and chasing toys. \u00a0But most of all, she loves the cat tree, which we call Castle Black.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_477\" style=\"width: 303px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-477\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-477\" src=\"https:\/\/blockschwenkcollective.com\/cool_by_osmosis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/castle-black-2-293x300.jpg\" alt=\"Zephyr (top left) remains the Alpha Cat, though Sonnet made a good try for the position!
