What is a Starfurry?

Starfurry is a word play on Starfury, which was the Earth Alliance fighter on the SF show Babylon 5. We were huge fans of Babylon 5, and it remains a fond memory (especially as we write this, while we are waiting for BattleStar Galactica to figure out what's going on and Debbie is wondering how many more places the Daleks will appear in Doctor Who). Several times careless typers would misspell Starfury, adding an extra "r" which we thought was really cute, especially since Starfuries were cute and rather ineffective against the various alien races' ships in B5.

From 1995-96, we went on to do a humor and speculation column called "The Star Furry" in a paper-and-ink fanzine dedicated to Babylon 5, called The Babylon Project. From that old column, we bring you The Best of the Star Furry. The Starfurry's Lair has been the name of our home page ever since, and we continue the tradition in this section.

(While we are firm believers in consenting adults doing whatever they want in private, the Starfurry moniker has nothing to with furries. And people have asked.)
